Set up Teya payments
Teya is one of the payment processors Rex can take card payments through. You connect it per venue, and once it's live guests pay on a Teya checkout and refunds go back through Teya from Rex.
Each venue uses one payment processor at a time. Switching a venue to Teya replaces whatever it was using before, so connect Teya before you send guests to that venue's reservation page.
Before you start
You need a Teya merchant account, and access to the Teya Business Portal with permission to register a plugin. Teya is also a plan feature — if Teya is missing from your payment options, your plan does not include it.
Connect in test mode first. Test mode registers against Teya's staging portal, so you can run a booking end to end without moving real money.
Where it's configured
Teya is set per venue, not per account. A venue's payment processor lives on the Payment card on its General tab — the same place you would connect Stripe or Square.
Open the venue's payment settings
Open the venue and stay on its General tab. Find the Payment card and open its settings. The Payment Settings window opens.
Choose Teya as the payment type
Pick Teya from the payment options. The Teya card appears below, showing Not Connected.
Decide on test mode before connecting
Turn on Teya Test Mode to connect through the Teya staging portal using test credentials. Leave it off to connect your live Teya account.
Set this before you connect. Once a venue is connected, Teya Test Mode is locked and cannot be switched — to move from test to live you have to Disconnect and connect again.
Connect with Teya
Click Connect with Teya. The Teya Business Portal opens in a new window — complete the plugin registration there. Keep the Payment Settings window open behind it.
Teya does not send you back to Rex when registration finishes. Teya notifies Rex directly instead, and Rex waits for that confirmation for about two minutes, so the status can take a few moments to change. Leave the Payment Settings window open while it does.
Confirm it connected
When Teya confirms the registration, the portal window closes on its own and the Teya card changes to Connected. If you closed the portal early or the status is still Pending, click Check Status to re-check.
What the Teya card shows
Once a venue is set to Teya, its card shows one of three states:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Not Connected | No Teya registration yet. The venue cannot take payments. |
| Pending | Registration started but Teya has not confirmed it. Click Check Status. |
| Connected | Teya is live for this venue. |
A connected card also shows:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Currency | The currency Teya will charge in. Read-only — it comes from your Teya account. |
| Teya Test Mode | Whether this connection is against Teya's staging environment. Locked once connected. |
| Check Status | Re-checks the connection with Teya. |
| Disconnect | Removes the Teya connection from this venue. |
While a venue is connected in test mode, its Payment card is badged Test Mode. No real money moves in that state — check for that badge before going live.
What your guests see
Guests booking at a Teya venue pay on a Teya checkout as the last step of the booking, then land back on their Rex confirmation. There is nothing to configure for this, and nothing on the reservation page identifies the processor by name.
Refunds
Refund a Teya booking from Rex the same way as any other reservation — Rex sends the refund to Teya for you. You do not need to open the Teya portal to refund a guest.
If Teya declines a refund, Rex surfaces the reason Teya gave. Those come from Teya rather than Rex, so a declined refund is usually resolved in the Teya portal.
Troubleshooting
The status stays on Pending
Teya confirms registration to Rex behind the scenes, and Rex only waits about two minutes. If the portal took longer, or you closed it before finishing, the status stays Pending. Click Check Status. If it is still Pending, run Connect with Teya again and complete the registration without closing the window.
Teya is not in the payment options
Your plan does not include Teya. Check Billing & Plan, or contact Rex support.
Teya Test Mode is greyed out
That is expected once a venue is connected. Test mode is fixed at connection time. Click Disconnect, set Teya Test Mode the way you want it, then connect again.
The Payment card says Test Mode but you expected live
The venue was connected with Teya Test Mode on, so it is registered against Teya's staging environment and takes no real payments. Disconnect, turn Teya Test Mode off, and connect again with your live Teya account.
Payments fail after connecting
Confirm the card reads Connected rather than Pending, and that the Currency shown matches what your Teya account is set up to charge in. If both look right, the failure is on the Teya side — check the transaction in the Teya Business Portal.
